Aros Castle, Isle of Mull, Argyll, Scotland

Just north of Salen on the North coast of Mull stands the remains of Aros Castle. This was a 13th century fortress built in the hall house with courtyard style of the time. It is thought that the castle was built by the MacDougals of Lorn who controlled Mull after the the death of Somerled. Later this castle became one of the main seats of the Lord of the Isles.
