The Sea Kayak Race from Oban
Bay and around the Island of Kerrera is a fun but challenging
enterprise with the winners having taken less than 2 hours to
circumnavigate the 5 mile long and 2 mile wide island (at its widest
point).
The sea
state can vary dramatically with large waves expected on any day
with wind from the south particularly at the south end of the
island.
This is a great spectacle
for observers at the beach head or the piers.
Watching the Kayakers
arrive at the beach between the piers from Kilbowie where they
have been scrutinised. The start is always quite spectacular.
