The Argyll coast line on the Clyde is beautiful although perhaps busier in the north as that area is within commuting distance with Glasgow. However from a little east of Helensburgh to Campbeltown on the south of the Mull of Kintyre is all part of the Clyde estuary. The area also includes the sea lochs and their associated towns and villages such as Gair Loch , Loch Long, Loch Goil, Holy Loch, , Loch Striven, Loch Ridden, Loch Fyne, and Loch Gilp. The scenery of this area is splendid, particularly on a clear day when the mountains of Arran dominate some of the skyline.

The west of Argyll is probably one of Europe's most scenic areas. There are very few population centres and those that there are have lots to offer in the way of accommodation as well as restaurants. If you are an outdoor person then there are hundreds of walks to choose from including some excellent long distance walks.

How to get to the Argyll Coast will depend upon where you are coming from. If you are coming from Ireland by way of Stranraer or Troon, or by Prestwick airport then an ideal entry point is by ferry from Gourock on the South Clyde coast to DunoonAlternatively from Glasgow head for Loch Lomond and enter via the Helensburgh Road, Arrochar or Tyndrum to Dalmally or North to Bridge of Orchy.
