The Crinan area including the Knap peninsula is quite stunning with soft rolling hills and sea views to the Islands. This is a very popular tourist area and is frequented all year round.
The Cairnbaan Hotel is situated at Lock 5, approximately halfway along the 9 mile-long Crinan Canal. It can be reached from the north (Inveraray) on the A83 or the A816 (Oban), or from the Cowal peninsula on the Tarbert - Portavadie ferry. To the south is Kintyre and the Isle of Arran via the Claonaig - Lochranza ferry.

Crinan Hotel has 20 bedrooms over three floors of the hotel and a lift to get you there if you feel so inclined. All the rooms have been individually designed by resident owner and artist Frances Macdonald and all have views either to the canal basin or others which look over Loch Crinan and out towards the sound of Jura, and the islands of Scarba and Mull.Our Superior rooms are large, beautifully decorated and tastefully elegant. Each is dedicated to a famous Scottish artist and hung with original works of art.
Some have large balconies and all have sea views through large picture windows either towards the islands of Mull, Jura and Scarba or across Loch Crinan and the entrance to the Crinan Canal.
